Insulating Lime Render Cornwall
We, Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd, were engaged to undertake internal Lime plastering works at a Grade II Mid-17th Century house in Cornwall.
Our Client decided that they would like to have the internal walls plastered with a breathable insulating Lime render application to improve the thermal performance of the solid walled masonry and maintain the breathability of the building.
We introduced a Cornerstone Insulating Lime render application at a thickness of approximately 50mm, with a Lime putty finish.

Lime Repointing Liskeard
This Granite-built cottage in Cornwall was suffering from damp on the gable elevation.
We, Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd, were engaged to undertake works to maintain the breathability of building. Following the removal of the existing cement pointing applications from the joints and the non-breathable paint applications to the faces of the Granite stonework, we removed the existing dropper course and reinstated a new one that matched the existing roofing Slate and introduced an appropriate breathable Lime pointing application to the exposed stonework.

Chimney Repairs St Dennis
This Granite-built property was suffering from damp problems.
Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd undertook an assessment of the property and identified that there were failings in the chimney stack. On instruction from the Client, we re-flaunched the top of the chimney, Lime re-pointed the entire chimney stack, replaced existing failed cowls and introduce a lead flashing channel to the front face of the chimney stack.

Lime Rendering and Breathable Paint Fowey
This historic building in Cornwall was suffering from damp problems to the Front Elevation.
The damp problems were mainly due to cement-based render applications which was hindering the breathability of the building.
We removed the existing render and introduced a 3-coat Lime Render application and, following the appropriate drying times, finished the process with a 4-stage Breathable Paint System.

Lime Builders Truro
This end of terrace property in Truro was suffering from damp issues. We, Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd, were engaged to undertake works to bring the breathability back to this building.
After we removed the cement-based pointing applications, we re-pointed the exposed stonework with an appropriate breathable Lime Pointing application.
The Gable Elevation had been rendered with a cement-based application, so we carefully removed this and introduced a breathable Lime Bag-Rub application and Breathable Paint System.
Our Clients were so pleased with the results, they asked us to return to undertake some Lime Plastering works.

Lime Repointing and Land Drainage St Cleer
Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd were engaged to undertake damp limitation works at this historic cottage in St Cleer.
Our first job was to remove the existing cement-based pointing applications from the joints and the non-breathable paint applications to the faces of the stonework. We then introduced a breathable Lime Pointing application to the exposed stonework.
These works were then followed with the introduction of a Land Drainage system.

Lime Pointing Tintagel
Leslie Cornell Building Restoration were engaged to inspect a damp wall in this Grade II Listed Gift House in Tintagel, Cornwall.
Our works commenced with the careful removal of all existing mortar applications to the Rear Elevation. This was followed with the introduction of an appropriate Lime mortar pointing applications to all exposed joints.
We were then instructed to re-open an existing vent on the low-level chimney and create an opening and introduce a new Slate vent.

Lime Applications and Land Drainage Charlestown
This project saw Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd undertake sympathetic and breathable Historic Building Restoration works to this seaside cottage in the Historic Port of Charlestown.
Lime Pointing:
We carefully removed the existing cement-based pointing applications and introduced an appropriate Lime pointing application to the exposed stonework.
Lime Plastering:
Following our removal of the existing plasters, we introduced a 3-coat Lime plaster application to the required stone walls. This was finished with a 3-stage Breathable Beeck Mineral Paint System.
Land Drainage and Rainwater Goods:
To further assist the breathability of this cottage we introduced a French Drain System and a new timber facia and refurbished the historic Cast-Iron guttering and downpipes.

Historic Grade II Listed Mill Restoration Cornwall
Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd were engaged to undertake sympathetic building restoration works to this early 1600’s Grade II Listed Mill in Cornwall. The main purpose of this project was to convert the former Mill into a residential dwelling.
Our building restoration works in Cornwall consisted of a variety of elements and they were:
Stone Cleaning and Stone Repairs in Cornwall
Existing vegetation was sensitively removed, with stone repairs being undertaken where required. This was followed with the cleaning of the existing stonework to remove existing non-breathable paint applications.
Structural Repairs in Cornwall
Following a survey undertaken by a Qualified Structural Engineer, it was established that some areas of the building were cracking and required structural repairs to strengthen the walls. We achieved this by installing Helifix Helibars and grout.
Lintel Replacements in Cornwall
Many of the existing lintels, both internally and externally, were removed die to failure/inadequacy. Replacement of these was achieved by introducing new Green Oak lintels.
Window Openings in Cornwall
One of the requirements for converting this building into a residential dwelling was additional window openings. This was done by carefully removing existing stonework and introducing new Green Oak lintels to create openings for new windows.
Window Sills in Cornwall
All of the existing window sills were replaced and new ones introduced to the new window openings, using solid Natural Slate.

The existing cement pointing applications were removed and an appropriate Natural Lime/sand mortar pointing application was introduced.
