Cob with Lime Render Truro
Our first task was to remove the existing cement render from this typical Cob Cottage in Truro.
We then set about removing the many layers of paint from the low level stonework. On completion of these works we could gain a full understanding of our remit and ascertain a sympathetic approach.
Some minor repairs were carried out and a three coat Lime Render application was applied to the Cob. Having completed numerous Lime pointing projects in Truro, on and around the surrounding Terraces, Client and Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd found a suitable coloured lime mortar.

Lime Pointing School Falmouth
Our client has engaged our services in this project for Lime patch pointing repairs, bath stone cleaning, and brick face repairs in Cornwall and leadwork to this school in Falmouth.
A Lime putty mortar was used to patch point the existing brickwork. The bricks in disrepair were removed and replaced with matching bricks and the bricks that could be repaired in situ were re-faced.
Bath stone repairs and bath stone cleaning were successfully achieved with a perfect colour match. In addition our roofing contractors were able to provide the dressed lead for the roof and bath stone.
Working to current CDM regulations and Site Safety this project was completed within the deadline.

Lime Pointing Cornwall
The front elevations of this Old Chapel and Schoolhouse were Lime re-pointed in Cornwall.
We established from the outset that all stonework was to be professionally cleaned and then an introduction of a specific blend of sand and Lime mortar was to be used to re-point these wonderful buildings.
The stain glass windows and ornate stonework were also cleaned and some repairs were made. Lime pointing in Cornwall provides a heritage building with many of the benefits it originally had.
Low-level damp was a problem in this property as it had thick cement pointing. Once raked out, and test panels for the final colour were agreed upon, we set about re-pointing the stonework in Lime. As you can see there was quite a transformation.
In addition we have numerous examples of our Lime pointing in Cornwall throughout this website.

Building Conservation Cornwall
This Grade II Listed Historic Cornish Farmhouse previously had a cement pointing application introduced over 40 years ago. The extension to the earlier main building had a Lime pointing application.
With this being a Grade II listed property we were engaged to act as agents on behalf of the client. Architectural Drawings were submitted to Cornwall Council along with pictures and a Heritage Assessment to gain Listed Building Consent.
This application from date of submission to Grant of Listed Building Consent by Cornwall Council was 7 weeks. Our commitment to building conservation in Cornwall and our knowledge of historic buildings in Cornwall and the correct techniques of restoration are not going unnoticed.

French Drain Cornwall
The installation of a French Drain to this old building in Cornwall which suffered internal damp problems has now limited water ingression.
Our client made us aware of internal damp problems and it was clear this was caused by ineffective water run-off and drainage at the base of the wall. Having removed cement, granite and earth we dug down and introduced a new land drainage system to connect with the existing drainage surrounding the property.

Lime Pointing Chimney Repair Truro
As one of the best examples of terraced housing in Historic Truro this Grade II listed project saw the team remove the cement pointing and re-point using a Lime mortar in Truro. On the front elevation a subtle coloured sand was chosen to promote the stonework prominent in the area.
The Brick arches and headers saw a paint removal system introduced which successfully removed the white, green and blue layers painted over the years to allow the bricks to breathe again as well as aesthetically taking this project back to its former glory.
To the rear of the property lead flashings were introduced to the chimney as well as a breathable Lime pointing application to the stack.

Lime Bag Rub Looe Cornwall
A Lime bag-rub plaster finish is used to show off a walls natural stone and undulations. It is a happy compromise when stonework isn’t quite good enough to Lime point.
This Lime bag-rub in Looe, Cornwall saw us remove 2 coats of cement render to expose the stonework and access the condition before a decision was made to render or re-point.
Low level damp was visible inside the property so removal of the cement based render was essential in allowing the walls longevity and ability to breath. Once de-clad a decision was made to bag rub this elevation. As you can see from the gallery pictures below a brick doorway and beautiful granite lintel were exposed and these features were picked out.
A 4-coat breathable Lime paint will be applied in a colour that matches the rest of the render on the property.

Lime Render Grampound
In the Historic village of Grampound-With-Creed in Cornwall this Grade II Listed Heritage building saw us remove the existing cement render and cement/Lime pointing.
Built of cob from first floor up and stone we carefully set out removing this impervious material.
Once the cladding was removed we could have a better understanding of the potential repairs to this heritage building. A few minor repairs we introduced with cob bricks and a Lime mortar.
Originally this historic building in Cornwall was three cottages and the remains of these could be seen. Across the property there were tell tell signs that prove this. If you look at the low level stonework you can see the varying types of stones where the windows were originally placed.
In addition to the 3-coat Lime render we exposed high level stonework which was completely repointed using a sympathetic Lime mortar.
This was, for all of the team, a truly fascinating project and steeped in history.
