Our clients contacted Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd because they were concerned about an old, very damp, section of their house and inadequate drainage around the property.
After our initial site visit, they engaged us to carry out the necessary work to maintain the breathability of the building.
Lime Applications
Internal Lime Plastering
We removed the existing cement-based plaster from two internal faces of the external walls, exposing the stonework beneath.
External Lime Bag-Rub
We removed the existing cement-based pointing and non-breathable paint from the stonework before cleaning the exposed surfaces.
Chimney Works
We cleaned and filled cracks to the existing Chimney render applications, introduced stainless steel Bellcasts to the leadwork, repaired the areas of render at the base of all the Chimney Stacks and introduced a 2-coat paint system
Drainage and Soakaway
To further improve the building’s breathability, we installed a French drainage system along the base of the external walls on all elevations. The work included excavating a drainage trench, fitting suitable gulleys, bends, pipework and rodding points, then backfilling with pea gravel, Terram membrane and granite chippings.
