Lime Pointing and Drainage St Ives
As the property is Grade II listed, our client authorised us to act as their agent and follow the required process to obtain Listed Building Consent for the restoration works. This included preparing existing and proposed scaled elevation drawings, a Heritage Design and Access statement, and an Ecological Trigger Report.
Once the paperwork was complete, we submitted it to Cornwall Council as supporting documentation for the Listed Building Consent application, which was subsequently approved.

Lime Pointing
The front, gable, and rear elevations stonework had previously been pointed with cement mortar and coated in non-breathable paints.
The first step of our Historic Building Restoration Works in Cornwall was to remove the existing non-breathable paint applications form the stonework and rake out the existing cement mortar from the joints of the stonework.
Slate Dropper Course
We then installed a slate dropper course to the roof verges on the gable elevation.
Other Breathability Works
To further aid the breathability of the walls, we introduced a land drainage trench at the base of the walls to the gable and rear elevations, and repointed the cobbles to the front elevation.
