External Lime Rendering

The Front and Gable Elevations of this cottage had been rendered with a non-breathable cement-based render, which meant that moisture was being trapped within the stone walls.

The first phase of our works was to remove the existing cement-based renders to expose the stonework.  This element of our works meant that stone walls were already starting to breathe again.

We then introduced a 3-coat breathable Lime render application to the exposed stonework.

Slate Dropper Course

The cottage had no existing slate dropper course to the Gable Elevation.  A slate dropper course diverts rainwater away for the substrate and limits the amount of moisture from entering the wall.

We supplied and introduced a slate dropper course to the Gable Elevation roof verges.

Internal Lime Plastering

To further aid the breathability of the cottage we removed the existing cement-based plaster applications from the internal faces of the external walls, and introduced 3-coat Lime Plaster applications.
