What is Lime Pointing?
Pointing is the term given to the finish found between the bricks or stone used to build your house. In many older buildings the mortar used to lay the stone or brick will be made from Lime.
The function of the mortar is to act as a bedding between the stones or bricks, but is also there to perform other functions:
- It must prevent water penetration through the joints, but it must allow the wall to breath and drain
- It must be flexible to allow the movement and settlement of the building
