Lime Pointing Grade II* Listed House Bodmin

The first dwelling at Lavethan has been there for approximately a thousand years. It began as a medieval Cornish Longhouse, which was gradually extended throughout the 17th and 18th centuries:
Following instruction from our Clients, we assisted them with the process of applying for Listed Building Consent and provided Lime Pointing sample panels for the works to be undertaken.
On receipt of the Grant of Listed Building Consent, we commenced our restoration works at this early to mid-16th century house in Cornwall.
Our historic restoration works in Cornwall to the courtyard of the main house included:
Lime Pointing Courtyard Elevation Walls
We carefully removed the existing failed cement and Lime-based pointing mortar from the stonework joints, leaving the sound historic Lime mortars in situ
Using approved Lime mortars, we introduced breathable Lime pointing applications.

Lime Pointing Stone and Brick Chimneys
As with the elevation walls, we carefully removed the existing failed cement and Lime-based mortars from the joints of the stonework and brickwork.
On completion of the mortar removal, and using an approved Lime mortar, we introduced breathable Lime pointing applications to the stone and brickwork.

Guttering and Downpipes
Modern plastic guttering and downpipes had previously been installed to the elevation walls of the Courtyard, which were proving to be inadequate.
We removed the existing guttering and downpipes and introduced new cast iron rainwater goods to better cope with rainfall, and prevent excessive moisture from entering the stone walls.
