Lime Pointing and Land Drainage Blisland

This granite-built Grade II* listed building dates approximately to the 16th century (possibly earlier) and is located within the Blisland Conservation Area in Cornwall.

A full renovation of the building was undertaken in the 1970’s, but some of the materials used then were unsuitable for a building of this age.

Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd were engaged to bring breathability back into this wonderful listed building in Cornwall. This project was divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 saw us removing the existing external cementitious applications to 3 elevations and repointing the exposed joints using an appropriate Natural Lime/sand mortar.

An external Land Drainage System was then introduced to the 3 elevations to further maintain the breathability of the building. This consisted of excavating a land drainage trench and backfilling it with appropriately sized clean stone.

In Phase 2 of this project we will be undertaking internal Lime plastering applications, internal slate flooring and window and door restorations. More details on Phase 2 will be added to our Portfolio page when the works are complete.
