Listed Building Lime Bag-Rub Lostwithiel

Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd were engaged to undertake sympathetic restoration works to this C18 3-storey terraced Grade II Listed property in Lostwithiel, due to it suffering from damp problems.

Listed Building Consent had already been granted to remove the existing failed cement-based render and non-breathable paint applications to the Front Elevation, leaving the stonework exposed for re-pointing with Lime.

Following our careful removal of the cement-based render, we found that the stonework beneath was not in a good enough condition to re-point the joints with a Lime mortar and leave the faces of the stonework exposed.

After discussing this with our Client we were instructed to submit an amended application for Listed Building Consent to apply for a Lime bag-rub application to the Front Elevation, followed by the introduction of a breathable Mineral Paint System.  On receipt of the Grant of Listed Building Consent for a Lime bag-rub application, our restoration works continued.

Using an appropriate Natural Lime/sand mortar, we introduced a Lime bag-rub application to the exposed stonework.

After allowing time for the bag-rub application to dry adequately, we then introduced a 4-stage Beeck Mineral Paint System.
