Lime Rendering and Lime Pointing Wadebridge
On this project, Leslie Cornell Building Restoration Ltd were able to emphasise what a pliable and workable medium Lime mortar in Cornwall is by following the undulations and curves at this Historic Cob Cottage in Cornwall. This project saw us Lime Rendering Cob and Lime Pointing Stonework.
This beautiful cottage was suffering with increasing damp problems, with the internal plaster and external render showing signs of failings.
The first stage or our breathability works in Cornwall began with the careful removal of existing cement-based external renders to the Cob and stonework to allow the building to start breathing again. This was followed by the removal of the existing cement mortar to the joints of the low-level stonework.
Once the cottage was free of cement-based claddings and mortar, we introduced an appropriate breathable 3-coat Lime render to the high-level Cob and repointed the low-level stonework with an appropriate Lime mortar.
The next stage of our breathability works was to introduce a French Drain System around the cottage to divert rainwater away from the walls to further maintain the breathability of the building.
The final stage of our restoration works in Cornwall was to introduce a breathable Mineral Paint System to the 3-coat Lime render application.
